The NHK spared no expense it appears in bringing Uehashi Nahoko's novels to the screen. The whole series consists of eighteen episodes. The first four reprise the story told in Kamiyama Kenji's excellent anime version. The remaining fourteen are drawn from other novels in the series. If Amazon continues to show the rest of this series, I recommend it highly. If they are just going to show episode one and not continue, there are "other ways" to watch this excellent production.
