With that open as hell ending, there'd better be a Season 2. Then again, I was wholly anticipating it; the finale would've had to be twice as long to juggle Sakura's crisis with every other plot thread such as spoiler[how and why Kotaro went to such great lengths to bring Sakura back, what his relationship with the possibly undead bartender is, the stories of Yugiri and Tae (though I'm almost hoping we never learn more about Tae), and the newsie who'd yet to crack not only what Junko, but now Ai and Lily are doing doing out and about 7 to 35 years after their deaths.]

I really enjoyed this show at first but I feel it peaked too soon. I would definitely watch a second season but also wouldn't be heartbroken if it didn't happen.

I hope there's more as well.

This is the only Idol anime not named Macross that i could stomach.

Can it be a non idol version? Love the character/writing but couldn't care less for idol. I imagine dropping the idol part would help it reach a much wider audience.

Idol anime is insanely popular so I'm going to disagree with that. It's already on track to be the best selling anime of the season, although that may or may not have to do with the typical concert ticket bonus that comes with the first volume.

Fans of the show, including Vinland Saga manga creator Makoto Yukimura, shared their thoughts on the conclusion and hopes for a second anime season.

...wait what? xD
Okay, that's random but also friggin' amazing. Reminds me of Kentaro Miura's (Berserk) infamous love for Idolmaster.
Seems like authors of amazing dark&serious Seinen-manga really like their idols. :>

And yes, season2 or riot, especially after all those plot-drops and such an open ending.

PS: Here's Yukimura's Twitter btw, since the article didn't source it.
He was really passionate about following the show!

Lol, people. This is a multimedia franchise with cygames. Of course, the franchise will not die and we will get at least one mobil game. Not to mention that the huge popularity of anime gives us a lot of hope.

Must admit, the character designs and excellent animation reeled me in initially but the storyline and humor kept me watching. Like Hinamatsuri, this took me by surprise and ended up in my top 10 easily. I wouldn't mind a second season.
