"Sexiled" sounds like the title of some horny bottom of the rung show where someone is exiled from sex or something, not what the synopsis for these novels describes. Does the Japanese title gives a similar impression or something? Otherwise it's a pretty poor choice of name on their part.

We need a spray bottle for light novel authors and publishers. "NO! BAD title!"

We decided that slang meaning is not common enough among our audience to go back on the translator's suggested title. We are intending it to mean "exiled because of one's sex".

Sorry but i think must people are going to initially think it's "exiled from sex or because of sex" and not "of one's sex"

What goes well with a bad title of an LN? Well, an even more worse and laughable synopsis.

Quibbling over the title aside, I read the initial offering and it's pretty funny.

The story description sounds interesting and I usually like a well made revenge story. The English title though is somewhat baffling and while I get that they are trying to get attention when most people see Sexiled they are going to guess that it is an ecchi series.

Frankly I don't see the problem here,it's just a combination of the words sexism and exile.Even if it isn't immediately obvious, the rest of the title explains the meaning pretty well so I don't see how there can be any misunderstandings.

Considering this is Japan it is coming from, that could be quite true too, especially since the blurb says "kick ass, kiss girls.....". Since the main character is a girl, most likely she will be the one doing the kissing.

I like revenge stories too, even funny ones.

It sounds like a summary from a fun corny 80s action movie, so have you just not wanted to live on the planet since the 80s? If so my condolences.

When I first saw the title I was like oh man is this some trash where the main dude gets kicked out because sexism to men or something... Because I feel like I've seen that story before. So glad it wasn't that.
Sexiled is a kinda porny name but I agree with this:

The story sounds kind of interesting so maybe I'll check it sometime.

This sounds fun. Author Ameko Kaeruda, that's a female name, right? Now I'm really curious what Anime Feminist's take on it would be. Last year, the anti-feminist internet boys got upset over the feminism in Between the Sky and Sea, but this was AF's Vrai Kaiser's take on that:

https://www.animefeminist.com/review-between-the-sky-and-sea-episode-1/
Quote:
Do y’all remember the 90s? More specifically, the “Grrl Power” movement that suffused a lot of western (particularly American) media at the time? It was a particular kind of well-meaning-but-tryhard media, often written by men, that wanted to let you know that GIRLS CAN DO ANYTHING and they’re TOUGH AND INDEPENDENT…but along the way usually painted sexism in laughably two-dimensional terms and either failed to examine or outright perpetuated more subtle forms of sexism and misogyny.

My main fun-obstruction in that show was the repetitive annoying scenes with the main male jerk telling the girls they shouldn't be allowed to do a man's job. In Sexiled, I read via another synopsis that the sexist idea is that all women should be healers, whereas the MC is a sorcerer and becomes a magic swordsman. But attractive action girls have been a popular staple of male-targeted otaku media for decades - makes me think of AF again:

Quote:
And the male antagonists are the type to loudly shout “girls shouldn’t be allowed in this field!” so that the audience can pat themselves on the back and say “well, I’m not that bad.”

Both parts of their name seem unusual for Japanese, which makes it seem like a pen name. For that reason, I don’t think it would be wise to assume the author’s gender based just on their name.

Otherwise, this has piqued my interest. If it is made into an anime, I’d watch it.
