After rereading the first three volumes, my only criticism was that after receiving her father's approval, the path for Iris became too smooth, without noticeable setbacks. Though they do show that the advancements were due to sustained work. The current volume corrects that with some actual drama and intrigue. While Yuri's actions may be as an agent for another country, they may also just be a selfish exercise of power over others with the ruination of the country just a side effect. It will be interesting to see how this progresses.

I really wish the original novels were available here. Cool In my experience when we have both the novel and the manga, the novel is much better, much more detailed.

You didn't mention the appearance of spoiler[the missing prince].

It isn't clear whether Edward is just a twit in general or whether he's under Yuri's spell,

I've read some of the source webnovel for this.

spoiler[It's a mix of both. Yuri is quite charismatic in playing the sweet innocent girl, but Edward's a twit who's been spoilt by his corrupt mother, the 2nd queen of the nation.
And in truth, Yuri hates Edward for the twit he is. All she wants is revenge against the nation over her mother's death (mother was an enemy nation spy who got impregnated by her father the baron, and was later cast out by the baron's legal wife. Both live in poverty until the mother passes away; later the enemy nation's spymaster locates Yuri and appeals to her anger to make her his new agent to destroy Tasmeria from within.)]

While I would say this is true in most cases, quality overall has never been a huge issue with what I've read. I remember the Sacred Blacksmith manga felt like it had missing pieces, but it never took away from my enjoyment.

The thing I dislike the most when we get the manga adaption for a LN, and not the LN itself, is that I have no idea if the manga will adapt the whole story. It's why, in the vast majority of cases, I hold off on getting the manga.

Duke's Daughter is a series I'd like to read, but I can't bring myself to invest money into something that may not end up being a complete story. I held off getting the Toradora manga, as an example...and was so happy when the LN was licensed. And I've been pre-ordering all the volumes as soon as they go up.

Agreed - or rather, I would do the same if I had that luxury. I've noticed that if Yen Press is the manga licensor, we're much more likely to get the novel as well (usually from them as well), but with anyone else, it's a toss-up. I pretty much always prefer to read the source material rather than an adaptation.

This series and Kakuriyo are the two LNs I most want someone to translate right now.

Alan45, I decided to hold off mentioning that until spoiler[she figures it out, or at least a few more people do.]

Count me in as someone else who’d also like to get my hands on the LN! That said, I don’t have too many issues showing my support for the series via buying the manga since that’s the only option available, at least for now.

I dunno... I have high hopes for the manga, in that it has been an excellent adaptation so far, and I hope it continues to be excellent by diverging from the source material. The first several novels are pretty good, but after the second or third big story arc the quality plummets.
