There have been some really good looking 3D anime though I think most of the time the best method is using a 2D/3D combination such as No Guns Life. The characters tend to have more expression with 2D models that is rarely seen in shows with 3D models. It is good to hear that the long term goal for the new studio is to allow for the use of both 2D and 3D.
