Thanks for covering this, Kim! I’ll definitely watch this panel later.
I’ve always admired background art in anime, whether painted, stylized or photorealistic. Nowadays I think I prefer hand-painted backgrounds over realistic one, but that depends on the type of work, of course. For example, I really love Studio Pablo’s work for anime like Flip Flappers, Little Witch Academia, ACCA, Penguindrum etc. and have a really soft spot for the incredibly beautiful BG art in some cel-era anime (e.g. Akage no Anne). Can’t wait to see the four movies mentioned. |
