...And then Aoi Yuki outed herself as a shotacon and a furry.
(To answer the burning question: some of them only might be female, as she refers to the group with the group-masculine "karera" and the individuals with the honorifics "-kun" or "-chan-kun" (to indicate otokonoko?). I think some level of ambiguity is intended, kind of like Nanachi from Made in Abyss, who was almost certainly an inspiration.)

I suppose technically they're all nue, in the sense that the word can be used like "chimera" to refer to combo-animals. Her introductory note calls them "Chimerio," (a portmanteau of "chimera" and "biblio") and says they are born from the feelings contained within words.
Honestly, it's a load of ambiguous mumbo-jumbo, but that's pretty normal for character projects like this. The actual designs are fantastic (as someone who does my own monster designs on the side, I'm jealous), and the casting indicates she's making good use of her maxed social links.
My favorite just by design is probably Thursday. The world needs more bird-boys.

I doubt it's that kind of series, but Matsuoka with a bunch of top-tier female seiyuu again? Some guys have all the luck .
I'm kind of surprised Ayana Taketatsu isn't in this. Aren't she and Aoi Yuki really close?
