Oh wow. More pseudo-religious KINO. Can´t wait. Trilogies in 4 parts are the best.
I wonder how all of this pays for itself. Tax write-offs?

Those movies are for proselytizing, new adepts will pay for them.

Concerning the nuclear deterrence position of this cult, North Korea proximity can explain the logic behind. At least they also advocate for nuclear power plants that permit to reduce carbon emissions and death from coal/high electricity prices...

I checked the first film, and color me surprised it's got an English dub. I wonder if it's actually pretty mainstream.

I learned about the Happy Science anime films a couple of months ago and they're fascinating to me for some strange reason. I've been meaning to watch all of them one day just to see what they're like (there's 8 released right now, and the first one was released all the way back in 1997).

It reminds me of how Aum Shinrikyo also made anime in order to recruit otaku into their cult back in the early 90s.

I haven't seen any posts on social media related to the film lately, so probably not.

I wonder if these are enjoyable within their own right when you divorce them from the religious nature of their creation...

Oh man, I actually remember watching The Mystical Laws years back when I saw the ANN review for it out of sheer morbid curiosity. It was imo pretty uninspired. Animation was meh, and the storyline was like one of those religious Christian movies, except with the reincarnation of Jesus replaced by a reincarnation of Buddha.

I am surprised that they're able to keep making these films, though. Because if the film I saw was any indication, these movies are just kind of... boring. I'm not religious though, so maybe other people get more out of them than I did.
