Just a minor nitpick to correct, this isn't a "life-sized" toy replica. I don't know if there was a misinterpretation of the promo text, but a "life-sized" beam rifle would be nigh impossible. For a frame of reference, the diameter of the muzzle is 90mm alone. It's just a realistic toy replication on a smaller scale.

it looks cheap and then I saw the $7 price tag and that about what I'd pay for it

The article says Premium Bandai, and they do have a website in the US, if online is ok. But I don't see it listed as of today, and the article was vague about when. Just 'early July'.

Thank you for looking, I looked also and can find nothing in Japan or the US (except outrageously priced on eBay, of course!) yet. Some of the Japan stores show the old water gun beam rifle, but not this rubber band one so far. I appreciate your effort!
