Ichirou Mizuki was also a tournament chairman of the Anison Grand Prix competitions (Japanese Wikipedia entry), whose winners were Konomi Suzuki, Shuhei Kita, Sayaka Sasaki, HIMEKA, Marina Kawano, Natsumi Okamoto, and Tatsuyuki Kobayashi, who were collectively AG7 who performed the third ending theme Endless Nova for anime Battle Spirits: Saikyou Ginga Ultimate Zero.

Very humorous, friendly and humble.

He transformed anime songs from being seen as just for children to the equal of any popular songs.

Left us too soon but left a great and lasting legacy of great music and a great anison community.

Another legend passes. It feels like 2022 was a bad year for celebrity deaths, but that's true just about every year.

His voice will be missed. I suppose it's a good time to put on a few tracks and remember what he's given us.

May the Aniki of anisongs rest in peace, while his amazing body of work lives on. What a unique, powerful, unforgettable voice.

Not the news I wanted to wake up to. There was nobody like him. There won’t be anyone like him again. Even the anison singers of his generation like Mitsuko Horie and Akira Kushida—owe everything to him. That’s why they called him Aniki.

He also founded my favorite act on the planet so I owe him in part for the friends I’ve made and experiences I’ve had because of JAM Projecr.

RIP Aniki. Your work will live on in the hearts of your fans and your peers.

Yeah, he’s a contemporary, he’s gotta be around the same age.
