So Shin Godzilla but a period peace (IE basically just a remake of the original Godzilla)?

When has any Godzilla movie with just Godzilla himself not been basically a remake of the first movie, including Shin Godzilla?

This one actually takes place in the time period that inspired the original movie, it's directed by the guy that did the Parasyte movies, and the brief glimpses are cool enough on their own. Yep, I'm in!

Return of Godzilla is the only one I can think of and that's a direct sequel to the original. Kinda a remake and followup at the same time.
