My first thought: Yay! Prime Rose! I enjoyed watching this on RetroCrush I think it was. I'm pretty sure this was the one that had a not-Spock science guy in it.

Second thought: Who's SkySet Entertainment? I pulled up their website since I hadn't heard of them ever before. Looks like they're brand new and this will be their first project? I'm curious to see how this project plays out.

Yeah, I kind of want to buy this, but I’ll probably wait to see how others find the quality of this release.

It's their first anime, but second release overall. They previously re-dubbed the Indonesian animated film Beauty and The Warrior and released it on DVD, apparently with the original English dub from the 00s also included.

Prime Rose is definitely an interesting first title to do for anime, and I'm honestly kind of shocked that the Master & Effects track still existed for this dub to even be possible.

Huh, that just raises further questions. Burned on demand DVD-R, re-written story, and re-cut film... well, I'm cautiously optimistic anyway. Hopefully Prime Rose will be a pressed disc at least. And I'm always happy to see animation from around the world get some more exposure, so maybe they'll be looking at doing some more odd titles like Deaf Crocodile does.

Hayden Davis? Isn't that the guy who started AniMedia Entertainment and claimed he got the rights to dub an old anime when he actually didn't and was super naive about the dubbing process?

Ehhh, kinda sus.

To be fair, all reports about the original dub are that it's absolutely terrible, so it's entirely possible that the "re-writes" & "re-cuts" were more "We want this to be more accurate to the original version" than the old dub was.

I mean, they already have a release out there, with their own dub, plus the ANN article literally says that Tezuka Pro confirmed the license with them. I don't think it's impossible for the guy to have learned how to do things "the right way" since then.

Nope, I'm pretty sure it is more "We want this to be less crappy and make more sense". I'm saying this because the original Indonesian version wasn't any better. Not only are they are rewriting it but also adding a new soundtrack.

In terms of 80's TezukaPro anime, I wish we got the Phoenix movies on disc.

I remember when Anime Sols tried to crowdfund a DVD release for this. 10 years after the closure of Anime Sols it's now seeing a home video release here.
