I read this! It's a nice little series about the power of records in various contexts (although I'm not entirely sold on records themselves being especially important as opposed to music more generally). There isn't really a main character, though; each chapter is a self-contained story.
To give you an idea, the stories are: - the record store worker (foreground in the cover art) helping the lady behind her uncover the story behind her recently deceased father's favorite record; - the role smuggled records played in what's essentially the USSR in liberating people from the strict confines of Communism; - a record store worker challenging a British rock band in what's essentially the Philippines in the '60s to a rock battle; - the escapades of a pirate radio ship in what's basically the Baltic broadcasting clandestine rock music to the Communist Bloc (and transporting a student to her new school in probably the UK); and - a story set in basically America about a rebellious teen and a diner worker with a sci-fi twist. All the main characters are young women or girls because manga. |
