One of the things I love about animation in general is how visual styles and themes get borrowed and transformed across cultures. The designs here are amazing! I'm not familiar with yakuza tropes, nor am I big into Western superheroes, but I love how the two are blended here and how you can see both styles come out. Joker and Harley are probably my favorites.

They really put their work into this! Even putting in a Simon Baz and Jay Garrick references.

Nice interview, thanks for this ANN.
Just a little something else you guys might not be aware of: There was an Elseworlds comic from DC from 2002 where the Justice League are in the form of shogun/samurai (yes, it's real & I'm not joking). I'm kind of surprised they didn't take that idea into Batman Ninja, or they're planning to adapt Shogun of Steel into a 3rd Batman Ninja film (assuming we will get one in the near future). |

I remember going into Batman Ninja fully prepared to hate it but ended up thinking it was some of the dumbest fun I'd had watching a movie in a while. I didn't like the sequel as much but it was still a great time and seeing the redesigns was one of the most interesting parts imo. So I guess this is a roundabout way of saying thanks for this interview!

The designs are all fantastic. Now I want to see Lex rip his suit off to reveal a bunch of Kryptonite tattoos.
