PA Works originals are such a rollercoaster of quality as of late, and here's to hoping that this is better than Tsuda's last anime original

It would have been nice if this wasn't another snime with a bland teenager as a main character

99% of of the bland teenage anime guys these days treat romance as if it is either alchemy - strange, mysterious and incomprehensible - or the bubonic plague - painful and deadly - and need to be dragged kicking and screaming by the love interest (plus his friends, her friends, his sister etc.) into nervously stammering out the invitation to the routine date in episode 11 that the girl wanted desperately before the series even started.
So for a modern male teen anime protagonist to be actually knowledgeable, experienced and proactive in romance is reason enough to give this the 3 episode test. Also, it is the first PA Works with a male lead interested in romance in who knows how long. Yet another reason.
