I remember when some people (not on this site) thought Mario Kart was going to bomb or underperform. Laughing

Yeah, the Switch 2 release has taught me that anything new is bad with Nintendo according to some people, especially franchises where older fans are upset about things.

On another site there was a poll asking if people would get the new pokemon, it was about 40% affirmative, 20% maybe and 40% no. Seems reasonable, but then you read the comments and about 95% are something along the line of how Pokemon has fallen and how cheap the games look and how could idiots pay full price for this.

Plus that's just the comparison between the poll on the website and the content of the comments, peple who read video game websites at all are probably already a very small slice of the buying public and there is still that sort of obvious divide between the number of people interested and the 40% that are primarily there to say they haven't liked pokemon on decades. These people are extremely loud for how little of the population they are and if anything the more negative chatter there is the better a game does. After all, if a game was truly expected to be a disaster outside of hardcore gaming circles then no one would talk about it, so when people are organically excited it makes the haters mad giving the appearence of negativity but actually raling that there are a lot of people excited to rile up the negative people this badly.

One would think Japan would have more military otaku who'd play Battlefield

It's way more people - but most of FPS players in Japan already turned their heads to PC, which never counted for Famitsu sales (because it's only physical media reports).

They meant bombing internationally or just in Japan? Because it is well known that Sonic isn't that popular in Japan, and in regards to Sonic Racing Crossworlds' international sales, I believe we don't have a lot solid numbers yet, but I've heard that it didn't chart that high on the UK's game rankings, and the UK has always been one of Sonic biggest markets. Honestly, it was pretty tiring seeing tons YouTubers saying Crossworlds was going to destroy Mario Kart World in terms of sales, though some are also claiming that Sonic has the "moral" win over Mario

Yeah these charts are kinda useless since they don't account digital sales which is what all PC sales are and even half of console sales these days.

Most World sales are from bundles. Not sure how it's selling on its own
