Good to see this conspicuous gap in ANN's review coverage finally being filled (especially since I just recently rewatched this myself).
I've said before that this entire franchise was made for people like me (i.e., ones who are fans of all the component franchises), and the movie absolutely maintains that appeal and then some. I, too, was impressed that the movie dared to branch out and address matters in one of the settings that the setting's source material mostly overlooks, but IIRC, all the original authors were consultants for the series, so it's likely that writer/director Asahina (who also did the chibi shorts for both Overlord and The Eminence in Shadow) had input from Tanya author Carlo Zen on that point.
How greatly you appreciate this movie does, indeed, depend a lot on how well you know the component franchises, but I do agree that being well familiar with at least two of the components and knowing at least basics about the others is probably the minimum.

Each of the main 4 series' authors were tasked in creating a character for the movie, and of course, Re:Zero's author being the person who loves to weave hints toward the main work across all his side works, he made Alec, who drops a hint that he knows Subaru and Emilia from somewhere, and whose last name reveal pretty much solved a big mystery I was trying to figure out about the origin of Kararagi. Of course, alongside the movie, the author dropped a side story telling Alec's history with the sage, Fleugel (who anime fans should recognize as the one who planted the great tree), the hero, Reid (Reinhard's ancestor), Satella, and the dragon. Alec is very likely to appear as a character proper in the main story of Re:Zero at this point, and while it won't be necessary to have watched Isekai Quartet to get to know him, it'll probably be treated like neat early foreshadowing toward his role in the series to the more hardcore fans.
I do love Isekai Quartet.

It's funny that you talk about the high barrier of entry (watching a bunch of anime), but I had watched all of Re:Zero and still got spoiled on a big thing about Emilia. I still haven't watched season 3, where that information might've been revealed, but it came out over 2 years after the movie, anyway

Which thing did you get spoiled on? Post it in spoiler tags and someone here can tell you if it is revealed in s3.

This movie really represents the best Isekai Quartet has to offer. Bringing four groups from vastly different series and stories and weaving them together so effectively and making them function like such an entertaining and and loveable band of characters.
Just to see how far the casts have come together, all the different inter-series character dynamics, and how that's on full display to the point where we get an Avengers: Endgame equivalent for Isekai shows in the final battle. We even get to see Naofumi getting along better with everybody compared to season 2.
Also it's just cool how the movies new characters all have ties to the four main franchises.
I also just love how Megumin goes basically the entire movie commando style. Like, you know when she's doing her Explosion at the end with her skirt moving they deliberately wanted you to remember "oh yeah, she's not wearing panties."
They even went to the trouble of actually showing a character have to put their panties back on after Kazuma stole it.

A good question. With the way Crunchyroll is with movies, the answer could either be anytime with maybe a press release about it, or it could be never.

The movie is called "Another World" and it takes place between seasons 2 and 3. (Though it's listed after s3 on CR for some reason.) Some of Ainz's comments in episode 1 of s3 refer to its events, and some characters who weren't in s2 who appear in ep 1 of s3 were first introduced at the end of the movie.
On another point, I'm also not clear why the movie was never dubbed when the first episode of s3 now has been. But this would hardly be the first time a streaming service or physical release company would skip dubbing movies or OVAs connected to a series, so. . .
