Disney+? I can already see people losing interest in it.
Bullet/Bullet was a big disappointment so I'll lower my expectations for this one as well.

Hey Samus!
In all seriousness...two separate anime adaptions? Cool. I hope both are good.

From a studio that's put out a bunch of mid and with someone who has directed a total of two anime episodes (for said mid) as director. But at least we also have the Miyamoto DS movie on the way

Okay I guess I'll hold any final judgments until I actually see the show but man I just do not see how Death Stranding is getting all these side projects. (I say this with the disclaimer that I have not played DS2, and apparently people like that one way more)

If you think about it, why does Death Stranding gets anime adaptations while MGS never did?

It would be perfect for an anime adaption but Konami would never allow it.

I look forward to it, hand-drawn animation is music to my ears! I wasn't digging the Mosquito CG style.
Illya's a good artist, though on the cutesy style, which in illustrated form doesn't jive with Death Stranding, but the main production character sheets and tone may feel significantly different from this promo art.
I'm seeing people freaking out over the Disney+ decision, without realizing that Disney+ streaming does not mean it's a Disney production. Kojima had his Connecting Worlds documentary on Disney+ before. So it's probably his most convenient option through his industy connections.

Ask Konami... They still have their live-action MGS movie in pre-production hell.
Kojima runs his own studio now, so he can get things done without Konami's bureaucracy getting in the way.

I remember hearing that Jason Demarco tried approaching Kojima to discuss a potential MGS anime, but Kojima shot it down by simply pointing at Demarco and calling him an otaku.

Kojima is enamored with Hollywood - heck, look at the characters in the game!
Of course he'd do it this way

Kojima owns the Death Standing IP, it's simple as that.

I always wondered what was going on around Sam in the games, due to the very close focus both games have on just his viewpoint and the minimal jump in time between 1 and 2. The opposite of MG. Glad to see it all expand and Kojima letting other people write his world. He was always as talented a producer as a director.

Did Metal Gear need an anime adaptation during the series' heydays, the majority of Japanese that got adaptations in the '90s and 2000s were primarily based on RPGs, with some exceptions, like Parappa the Rapper or Konami's own Ganbare Goemon. Not to mention that I don't think Metal Gear was suited for an anime adaptation, despite it having a lot of anime tropes, but the series itself always had more of a Hollywood action movie feel to it.
As for Death Stranding, I haven't played any of the games, though I did watch a bit of walkthrough of the first game, it looked impressive, but it felt kind of boring. Nonetheless, both games were well received by audiences, though I feel the second one didn't have the same impact as the first one.

I bought Death Stranding on sale and went in with zero expectations since I had never played MGS before and it quickly became one of my favorite games ever. I'm super excited for all of these upcoming projects. Can't wait for 2 to finally release on PC.
