Does the manga explain how she went into the hospital as a dark brunette and woke up there as a blonde? Or was that transformation anime only?

The infectious optimism is refreshing and the mystery is interesting. The anime is great too but some of the sound effects (elephant trumpet and cows mooing) take away a little bit from the body positivity aspect but it’s nothing too bad.

This sounds like a Japanese take on a few mental self-improvement films like Shallow Hal or Yes Man, which go with the idea that happiness is a state of mind. I can see why the murder mystery plot is there though, an ongoing show might get tiring vs a movie where that would be less necessary.

I enjoyed the anime and really hope it gets a second season, but I've been thinking about checking out the manga regardless. Yumeco is such a refreshing protag in anime.
