"This delightfully wholesome high school romcom flew under the radar for most anime viewers during the Fall 2025 anime season"
Not true really. It rated reasonably well on My Anime List and on Crunchyroll. It was merely "overlooked" by ANN, who really seems to have it out for shonen and seinen romcoms these days. Evidence? 2 shonen romcoms landed on the Worst Anime of Fall 2025 list along with plotless Ninja vs. Gokudo and dumpster fire One Punch Man S3 for the crime of being merely average. It used to be that ANN used fanservice, self-insert or complicated male protagonists, female-shaming etc. as reasons to go after shonen romcoms but now that the latest batch of romcoms mostly avoid those now they are getting shredded for merely existing. Oh well.
I get the Aharen-san is Indecipherable comparison - Skip and Loafer and Horimiya less so as the lead is nothing like Hori and Yano is much better adjusted than Izumi despite having lots more reasons not to be - but I think that a better comparison is Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie from Spring 2022. Like Yano-kun, it skipped the will-they-won't-they in favor of establishing the couple early. Also like Yano-kun, even though the main couple was cute, having very interesting side characters that weren't the usual anime high school friends tropes made it a lot better. Shikimori actually did get picked up for weekly reviews, reflecting an era when ANN seemed to view shonen romcoms a lot more positively. Evidence? My Stepmom's Daughter Is My Ex from Summer 2022 also got picked up and received good marks. Today? It would get shredded over its flawed male protagonist (despite the fact that said protagonist not only acknowledges his flaws but deeply regrets them) and his being romantically linked to multiple busty young women, not to mention the anime high school friends being totally anime tropey (somewhat sleazy guy, firetempered girl) and oh yeah the "ha ha incest adjacent" stuff.

The Dangers in My Heart and Blue Box were literally reviewed weekly just in 2024 and those were both shonen romance anime. I'm disappointed Yano-kun didn't make the daily streaming reviews, but if your only evidence of a conspiracy against shonen and seinen romcoms is your favorite shows didn't make the cut, you're not being serious. Also the daily reviews are decided entirely by vote so if your show didn't make it, blame it on not enough Yano-kun fans showing up to vote for it. Stop embarrassing Yano-kun fans here.

This one got much better after a couple of episodes. Worth watching imo.

Couldn't stand the scenes where Yano got injured. Horrible show, one of the worst of 2025.

Reminds me of Shikimori-san Kawaii Dake Ja Nai.

What I don't understand is how a guy could be constantly falling down and yet never end up with his face embedded in someone's pantsu or accidently groping anyone's chest. It seemed to defy physics.

I ordinarily like rom-coms, but this bored me to death. Well, not literally, but . . .
