I assume this is a hiatus from live performing and not voice acting (article isn't exactly clear)? Because she just got cast in Precure as a character who immediately exploded in popularity before even showing up lol

You're right, the hiatus is only from her music activities. The ANN article does not mention this, but the press release link on the bottom mentions it correctly. (which is probably machine-translated from a Japanese article)
Personally, I like her voice. It's a very unique, easily recognizable voice and IMHO somehow easy to understand for learners of Japanese. So I was quite shocked when I read the ANN article header... glad I took the time to go to the comment section.
