It just came out digitally.
It has a unique style that is not the norm. Sort of like the Karate Master manga. More gritty or maybe harsh looking, might be true considering the content.
Mom sells her son to a blacksmith who treats him brutally. The boy kills the blacksmith and flees. Becomes a stowaway on a slave ship going to a distant land. Makes friends with the other slaves and ends up with a baby in his arms. But I am not filling in the pieces there. Because there is a deal with the 'devil', but not really an actual devil, but for thematic purposes is the same.
This is going to be a brutal manga, the subject matter and the art work certainly points that way. Also, no one can complain about the depiction of slavery, because it is 'appropriately' brutal and evil.
Faustian deals, life is cheap, brutal slavery, and 'dark' fantasy. This is what Volume 1 is. As a brutal manga, it brings up the question, will the 'other' evil act, that many do not like, be depicted in other volumes.
Considering the harshness of life depicted, I wouldn't be surprised. I mean, if you are being brutally honest with yourself it would quite fitting for its inclusion. It fits the times shown.
Standing for Volume 1, it is just a dark and brutal fantasy. A safe one, 'per se'. But I wouldn't count your chickens yet, the next volumes could easily drop the other hammer down.
I want to know what's next, storywise.
As to the title, I don't know. It might have something to do with there being 100 slaves on the slave ship. I remember now, it is something adjacent to that. I didn't realize that till now.
