What do you mean? The LCP literally gives you the freedom to read on different apps and such, even outside of the Bookwalker ecosystem. It's way more free than how it was before, when you could only read your Bookwalker stuff on Bookwalker. That's the point of switching to LCP.

Is there a reason why the website isn't actually linked in the article? All the links go to past ANN articles.

That's an honest shame, considering most of the library on my account is comprised of JP volumes that I got for free whenever some campaign took place...

The new website is an absolute trash heap unfortunately. So many bugs, so much missing functionality. They really should have delayed again and just waited until they were done instead of this "we will get to it eventually". The new site is essentially useless for now

A minor correction: The official name of the LCP DRM scheme is "Licensed Content Protection", not "Lightweight Content Protection". The official specification is at readium.org.
To add to this: There are at least two independent ebook readers on which you can read the new LCP-DRMed BookWalker titles, Thorium Reader and FBReader. You can export the needed file from the BookWalker web page on which you're reading the manga or LN volume; use the ". . ." menu in the upper right and select "LCP-protected EPUB".
This doesn't actually download the manga/LN itself; instead it downloads a ".lcpl" ("LCP license") file that you can then open into a reader that supports .lcpl file import. The reader will then download the manga/LN and decrypt it for display; you'll need to provide your BookWalker userid, a 16-character string starting with "USR_" that you can find on one of the settings pages.
Thorium Reader also lets you save a copy of the (encrypted) EPUB file, so with that, the .lcpl file, and your BookWalker userid you'll have a complete backup of that particular manga or LN volume in case BookWalker goes out of business. (Of course, doing this for hundreds of purchased books is a challenge, which will hopefully be addressed in future.)

Yeah, we'll actually be adding a way to download/import your entire library at once pretty shortly.

The new phone app is an absolute disaster.
