A million news sources. I'll pick this one.
http://money.cnn.com/2007/02/09/news/newsmakers/cartoon_network/ He claims it was because of the incident in Boston that he's resigning as head of Cartoon Network. |

**sigh** It's really sad that he had to resign because of the stupidity of the Boston authorities. How about firing them instead, since they can't seem to tell a bomb from a Lite-Brite?

Jeez, that's out of left field. I mean, you didn't see the head of Bang Zoom resign after employees of his company were caught pretending to be fans and smearing other dub companies...and I think that's a lot worse than the ATHF publicity stunt.
Although this Boston thing got a lot of attention, and it involved the authorities. This still shocks me though. I didn't think that there was any lingering issue. I almost forgot about it, actually. Now, I'll only take questions about my hair... |

I don't think that it's the authorities fault on this one, maybe if they had been let known about this thing then it wouldn't have been such an issue. But people are not willing to take any chances since 9/11, and I wouldn't want to take any either. |

What happened in Boston?
And why should this matter to anime fans? Most of the anime is on AS, and that's a seperate network. edit: Guess it helps to read the article. What show was it that led to something as radical as an f'ing bomb scare? The ATHF movie? What? I gotta start watching CN again, I guess. ...nah. |

.....have you seen what they looked like?
And what happened in every other city they were found in? From the AP: Turner said the devices have been in place for two or three weeks in Boston; New York City; Los Angeles, California; Chicago, Illinois; Atlanta, Georgia; Seattle, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Austin, Texas; San Francisco, California; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. However, only in Boston did the light boards create such a furor. In Seattle and several suburbs, the signs were removed without fuss, according to The Associated Press. "We haven't had any calls to 911 regarding this," Seattle police spokesman Sean Whitcomb told AP on Wednesday. Police in Philadelphia told AP that authorities had confiscated 56 of the devices. In New York, a street was shut down for 45 minutes after two of the devices were found on an overpass, the New York Post reported. In all, 41 of the devices were found in the city, according to the newspaper. In Portland, police Sgt. Brian Schmautz said officers had no plans to remove any of the signs, so long as they weren't on municipal property. Nor had officers been dispatched in any kind of bomb scare related to the devices. "At this point we wouldn't even begin an investigation, because there's no reason to believe a crime has occurred," Schmautz said. So, while I can understand due caution, I still say Boston screwed the pooch on this one. |

He probably already has job offers lined up.
But, in these sort of cases, the sh!t rolls up-hill. And since he was the top guy, the buck had to stop with him. |

From the ads for upcoming shows I've been seeing in the last week or so, I'd resign, too.

I highly doubt it, but hopefully this will mean Cartoon Network will actually start back to showing something that isn't anime or one of their original shows. I wouldn't mind seeing some of the old, old Toonami shows back for another round, or maybe SWAT Kats or 2 Stupid Dogs, or just something they haven't shown in a while or had a hand in producing themselves (and yes, I realize Turner made SWAT & Stupid Dogs, but they fall into the former category of long forgotten). I just want to see something that isn't frickin' Camp Lazlo or My Gym Partner is a Monkey or Kids Next Door or Ed, Edd, & Eddy. And I wouldn't mind seeing something on Adult Swim that isn't Family Guy or Inuyasha or Fullmetal Alchemist, but I have even more doubts about that.
And yes, I realize that someone in their infinite wisdom is going to tell me to "just watch Boomerang." Well, I don't get Boomerang, and the few chances I've had to watch it, all I saw were unending reruns of Huckleberry Hound and Snagglepuss and Yogi Bear and all of the other old Hannah-Barbera shorts. I had a lifetime's fill of those when Cartoon Network was in its infancy, and thus Boomerang does not interest me and does not work as an alternative. |

I don't believe that CN will even take a step back into the old, old shows that were once worth watching (that weren't on AS or Toonami). In fact Miguzi might be gone and an hour off of Toonami for MORE of the Grim Tales of Billy and Mandy, Ed Edd n' Eddy, Squirrel Boy etc....crap crap crap. I mean bring the first set of Dexter back or the first few "seasons" of PPG, hell even Johnny Bravo would do and I hated that show. SWAT Katz was one of my favorite shows, but never thought 'd see it back on CN.....(I did see it on another channel once though, don't remember which....I think it WAS Boomerang.)

This smells of someone upstairs looking for an excuse to oust the guy and found a stupid reason to force his hand. I've seen similar guerilla advertising for [as] shows in New York and no one flips out. Thank you Boston for not being able to tell a friggin' Lite-Brite from a bomb. Freedom am cry.
"I hope you stupid Boston officials can see this, because I'm doing it as hard as I can!"
Watch Boomerang at appropriate times. |

... As I said, I don't even have the channel, nor can I exactly afford to upgrade my satellite package, nor do I really want to for one channel that might not really be worth it in the end. I've only been able to watch it at other people's houses, and what I saw reeeeally didn't impress me. |
