What's up with the way Silent Mobius is animated? Was it pieced together with footage from an earlier series? Half the show looks like it was animated in the early 90s, while the other half looks like it's using computer drawn and composited sequences. Did this show get a make over from some earlier form?

ummm...I think its just the style of that time period...other shows from around that time have a similar thing going on...I think its just the beginning transition of working with cel and CG....

Really? It didn't seem to work very well. I felt like I was watching some clip show with the transitions between animation styles.

yeah, actually I thought Escaflowne series had some of the worst...though I loved the show...I really didn't like their CG...

Another thing about Silent Mobius is that the opening theme's animation is way better than the series animation.

A prime example of this sort of computer/cel-blend animation can be seen in Lost Universe.. something's just "not right" with the balance between computer-aided animation and cel-animation in it, and it often shows in the characters, the backgrounds, and just the overall feel of the animation.
I think it simply was the product of an era when few anime animation companies had seriously experimented with the "new" software, and as such their products didn't turn out looking so hot.

THANK YOU, someone agrees with me!!!!
The animation is so terrible.
It looks like two companies each made certain parts and then put it together without checking if the animation qualities were similar.
