I live in England but buy all my anime from America. I thought Vol.4 was to be released on the 4/12/07 but I can't find anywhere that sells it. Amazon.com/playusa/ebay.com etc..... no luck. Did it get put back or something? Any help would be fantastic, thanks. : )

geneon entertainment no longer distributes dvds, I won't go into the whole matter but they have ceased distribution as of 11/6/07. All of there dvds previously released are now out of print also so they will get harder to find as time goes by, and for the record when they cry( among many other titles by geneon) won't be fully released unless someone else picks them up or geneon gets back in the business somehow.

Ohhh fffffffffffffffudge. Thanks anyway. Thank god I got the first 3 early then. That's a shame though, hopefully someone will pick up when they cry though, it's a very good anime. Probably won't though. Sad

Geneon, the company who released it, is all but shut down. Several of there titles were cut off mid-release, including When They Cry. Evil or Very Mad

As things stand now, there are no plans for the rest of Higurashi to be released. People have been hoping that another company will pick up the licence, but so far none have announced such plans. And in all likelyhood the chances of that actually happening are quite grim. Evil or Very Mad

Only good news we have all heard about it is that the entire dub is in fact completed.

Edit:
cloud1989 beat me to it.

Hahaha (not trying to make fun of people who are sad now, this is just an evil, apathetic laugh in general).

There's tons of people who don't keep up with anime news (most people) and they are probably just now gonna start realizing that something is wrong with Geneon titles. I hope this forum and the entire anime world is flooded with pissed-off customers over the next few months.

That'll teach Geneon and the anime industry not to be such screwups in the future and to take responsibility for their actions.

Unless it got considerably better after the first volume then I'd say that's bad news too. Though perhaps I'm being too harsh. I have heard worse dubs afterall.

Regardless of your personal opinion of the dub I see no reason why it should be bad news. You're not forced to listen to the dub for one thing, so whether it exists or not shouldn't even be an issue. It's like getting upset some random guy you've never seen and never will thousands of miles away is wearing a t-shirt you dislike, even though the fact he is in no way effects.

The good news aspect of it however effects everyone as the fact the dub is completed means less work for any company that is interested in picking up the series and only adds to its appeal for companies shopping for licenses. So whether you like the dub or even intend to listen to, having the dub completed is a good thing as it makes it slightly more likely the series will be relicensed.

I disagree entirely. First of all I'm a dub fan so having a really bad dub completed IS a bad thing for me because I WANT to be able to watch the show in my own language with a GOOD dub. It being completed means that when another licensor picks the show up they'll most likely use the pre-existing crappy dub as opposed to producing a new one.

For me a dub is the only thing that the R1 DVDs have going for them over the R2s other than price (I don't need subtitles). The R2 DVDs have plenty of extras but Geneon's release had none. I've bought the first volume and was entirely dissatisfied with their product (Well except for the artbox, it's nice). I'm glad Geneon went under it means someone who can actually release a decent product can release the show now.

Anyways, no matter what company picks it back up we're bound to at least get better extras than what Geneon was doing and maybe if we're lucky they'll give it a new dub too.

You do realize that most likely if Geneon goes out of business no one will touch that show and it will never be fully released in the US?

When They Cry is a pretty niche title thats not going to appeal to alot of people. There are many Geneon series that will be much easier to sell then that one.

I also don't understand why people bitch about dvds not having extra's they wanted when it says on the box what extra's are included. Interviews, documentaries, etc all add to the cost of the show because they need to be translated into english for an english audience to understand.

Or created from scratch if there aren't any from the Japanese release or the R1 licensor can't get them.

Still, Geneon's releases have overall been pretty light on extras period. I can see where he's coming from. I found myself wanting more from some of their releases too. (I disagree with Oronae about the dub though. Personally, I like it.)

The best hope for Geneon's unfinished series at this point is a blanket deal where one company takes over their whole library or they offer some of the series to other companies for cheap. It would be nice if Geneon came back to life, but at this point I'm not holding my breath. I'd love to see Manga Entertainment get some of their niche titles and major ones since they seem to be poised for a growth spurt and their titles air on multiple channels. A little TV exposure might ramp up sales.

Anime exclamation Sigh. Anime smallmouth Probably won't happen.

That would be nice, and good thinking too by the way. Manga also doesn't seem to shy away from "edgy" titles either, so it would make sense. But yeah, I wouldn't hold our breath.

All I want is Rozen Maiden, When they Cry, Karin, and Saiunkoku. Is that to much to ask? Crying or Very sad

I am fairly confident that Black Lagoon will be picked up and released on DVD eventually though.

Not even funimation could afford to pick up the entire library of geneon titles at once.

I'm praying they release Nanoha and Zero no tsukaima dvds.

You know, sometimes people deserve to be told off. This is one such occasion.

OK, OK, people. No point in speculation. All Geneon titles still belong to Geneon until proven otherwise. They just need a distributor. When official news comes out that their licenses will switch hands, then you can start debating. But until/if it comes out, the initial question to this thread has already been answered.
