So, there are like a thousand releases for the PC of such games in Japan, right? I've always wanted to check on of these babies out but not knowing much Japanese has so far made it impossible. So I was thinking that if so many are coming out then there should be a chance that a handful of them have been translated and come over from Japan. If so could you maybe name a few of the better ones so I could check them out? Pretty please?

According to an article in an Asian pop-culture mag, hentai/date-sims account for 25% of the computer software production of Japan.

The only one I know of is the original Gainax Princess Maker. It was fun... for a day or two. *could never get her girl to marry the prince*

It depends on what you define as better - so far to date there haven't been any 'pure' dating games translated to english, so you are going to be stuck with some hentai scenes. So in that case, the best bishoujo games (Ones that have a godd story and minimal hentai) are:

- Brave Soul (And RPG style game)
- Crescendo (Story in a high school setting)
- Desire (Sci-Fi style story)
- Divi-Dead (Very dark story line, but good)
- True Love (Very good game, but out of print)

Also, there are two games that are under fan translation - you need the orginal game to apply the language pack to. Kanon is a very long story, and is considered semi-pure, and Wind - to the best of my knowledge is a pure game.

- Kanon
- Wind ~ A Breath Of Heart

That about sums it up - if you want to play a pure bishoujo game you will need to have a working knowledge of Japanese, and be able to read a good chunk of itl.

Graduation was a teaching sim that Tokyopop released in english back when they were Mixx; it too, is not a dating sim, but it's similar; you're teaching 5 girls, and trying to get them to go to good colleges. I think you can still find copies; it's old, but I still enjoy it.

Wow... everyone's forgotten about Tokimeki Memorial. I always wanted to import that game, but I could never find a fan-translation.

Other games I remember reading about include To Heart, the Comic Party game on Dreamcast, and Triangle Story.

Wow! Shocked That's a lot.

Hey, kamiboy-san, if you want to try one of these games out, I think theres one on www.newgrounds.com. It's called "Ganguro Girl" or something like that.

A couple of friends were playing while we were hanging out, but kinda being embarrassed to partcipate in hentai-related activities, I didn't play it. Though at the end of the game, I did hear some moaning, and they told me not to look Embarassed.

I actually know the guy who is in the middle of translating the SNES version of this title right now. he's gotten distracted by other things but he is at 40 something % right now I think.

I love this game and still play it whenever I'm bored. The trick to getting the different outcomes is using a guide actually and learning to break your patterns or using cheats *laughs*

As for other games, you can either download them (off of download programs which IS NOT difficult) or there is a company called JASTUSA who makes american hentai/dating sim titles. I won't post the link because I dunno if that's against the rules but if you search you can find them. I've played a couple of their games (so sue me! hehe) and they are actually pretty good. Definately worth checking out if you're into that kind of thing.

Jast USA doesn't make the games anymore - they are now just a reseller. Which is a bit of a shame because alot of the classic games - Three Sisters Story, Runaway City, and Season of the Sakura - came from them (BTW you can get all of those games in their Memorial Collection). Right now the only translator left from the old days is Peach Pricess - whom we can thank for Brave Soul Razz

They're not really a dating sim per se, but Hirameki International is releasing dating sim "interactive DVDs." They should be out sometime this year in the US. More info can be found on the Hirameki website.

On yesterday's episode of X-Play they were doing a segment on Bishoujo games. They might actually be fun to play. Some of the games featured were Do you like horny bunnies and a beach game that was like beach volleyball without the volleyball. When my little step-brother caught a glimpse of the segment he covered his eyes and called me dirty.

Do you know what Bishoujo means in Japanese? If not, it means in natural english pornographic. As for dating sims, check out some of the websites going around. Anyway about 90% of all Japanese games are 'hentai' so don't go buying games you don't know about first. Okay!
