Has anyone seen this series yet? I saw this in the store recently and was very tempted to get it because I'm a Kurosawa fan, but didn't want to pick it up if it wasn't any good. Any information would be appreciated.

The series doesn't really remind me of Kurosawa's films. Then again I always think of movies like Ran and Kurosawa's old B/W samurai films, and am not familiar with all of his works. The plot moves on the slower side, but the main character is really cool (reminds me a bit of Spike) and carries the show IMO. The show leans heavily towards drama, with action secondary. Unfortunately I'm also just starting the series, so please take these opinions with a grain of salt.

Well, from everything I have read online so far, it's an adaptation of Kurosawa's film "Yojimbo", which had a similar plotline (and was also remade into two American films -- "A Fistful of Dollars" with Clint Eastwood and "Last Man Standing" with Bruce Willis). Plus if you look at the box it says it's produced by the "Kurosawa Studios" or something like that.
