God, I hope not. Theres no way they're going to make a good movie. Its a bad allocation of resources. They'd be better off giving those millions to the poor.

Yeah, i really dont think any anime should be turned into a live action movie. they are better giving the millions to the poor.

And yet another DBZ live action thread. How many is that now?
Unless there's new concrete information, I don't see the point in dragging this subject any further. You could've also used the pre-existing thread as well. It's not that old. animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8990&highlight=dbz+live+action |

Lupin is anime that can work as a live-action movie. Evangelion could work too. With the same company that did the special effects of LOTR, an Evangelion movie could work.

Lupin can work as anime as long as they get a screen-writer/director who actulally knows the series. But thats not how things work in hollyweird. I'm sure whoever wrote the Punisher movie didn't actually read it before he was on the project. I don't think its a good idea, unless Spieldberg actually gets attached to it. Than I would hope he would direct, because just because he produces doesn't make it good (remember Jurassic Park 3?). And don't get me started on how Jim Carey as Lupin would be an infinite suck fest. How old is he now, 43? Yea we really need a middle-aged Lupin who acts like Ace Ventura, Pet Detective.

Okay can we please stop this purist crap and reconize that this ain't 1985 and we have the technology to make whatever we want there making a movie about giant Transformers right now so why couldn't they make a DBZ movie my only concern is not the casting but rather the script but guess what anime is not just for the purist anymore it's for everybody so that means live action adaptions of your favorite anime. And besides I'll rather see a alright DBZ movie than a realy good Harry Potter any day! |

Well its just not that i care about the script, but how they would make the chars look. Gokus hair is really wierd, green aliens, i mean seriously. it would just seem a little wierd. what about ssj's? would they actually make their hair turn gold? Some anime might be ok to turn into a live action moveie, FMP, Gundam Wing. but dbz?

sigh...If they do a DBZ movie and it's successful we can kiss tastefull treatment of Japanese animation goodbye. It'll be Street Fighter the movie all over again. Soon you'll be seening Dragon Ball Z the movie the game, Dragon Ball Z the movie 2, 3, 4, until they just can't whore it anymore. And most sorrowfully, everyone will forget that the original Dragon Ball even exsist (even though it's a far superior series.)

Why is that? And why didn't the trillion Pokemon movies that ran in theatres do that sort of damage first?
So how is this different from the way the DBZ anime is treated now in both the US and Japan?
So you compare it to Street Fighter, and yet people still remember the Street Fighter game before the movie. So why will it be the exact opposite for DBZ? Last edited by Nagisa on Tue Aug 31, 2004 7:46 pm; edited 1 time in total |

If Toriyama is involved in the movie, he could help them make the movie as close to the anime as possible. It won't be like Street Fighter.
