I think it's good in either language. The dub did a surprisingly good job with Sorata in not giving him a southern accent in equivalence to his Osakan dialect.

None of the girls sound overly gruntified either, which really helps bring out their character.

I personally prefer it subbed only because of the fact that it takes place in Japan, but in my honest opinion, you can't really go wrong with either one of them. Wink

Yup, though I prefer the sub, the dub is also good. Oddly enough, the best voice in both versions is Sorata's. I've always said just about anything with Crispin Freeman is bound to be a good dub.

The dub is great on the TV series. Like all of Pioneers dubs.

It's odd, I understand and speak enough Japanese not to starve.
But I like shows that touch on Japanese spirituality (X, Gasaraki, even small moments in Ai yori Yoshi or Fruits Baskets) in Japanese.
It has nothing to do with the quality of the english dub (and this one is good) but concepts, thoughts, even the feel of the language or certain attitudes don't seem to translate quite right in my mind. Words like Miko, Shinkasen, Kami have no equivelent that quite fits and so I always notice it when the English scriptwriters try to convey those things and thier significance. Very often I subconsiously wince.
Of course, this is an area that is probably the most alien to westerners.
On an other subject, I'm with Tony K on the choice not to use a southern accent for Sorata. I wish other companies would do the same.

All the Best,

Nani?

I was somewhat disappointed in the X movie dub as well; it's probably because it differed so much from the series. Kamui sounded really young, that threw me off... I liked the Japanese voice-acting in it though.
