is there actually a Ninja resurection: Return of Jubei movie or series? If so, i thought Ninja resurection had nothing to do with Ninja Scroll

And yet - another ninja ressurrection topic.
NR has NOTHING to do with Ninja Scroll. Those are 2 completely different titles.

Considering Ninja Resurrection is billed as the "sequel" to Ninja Scroll, I wouldn't say there was no connection.
And on a side note, who in their right mind would want a series based on Ninja Resurrrection?

It's called a "marketing ploy."

It's pretty hit or miss with many people.
It brings up some real history and people of Japan but some of the ninjas have weapons like a rocket launcher and it's pretty gory and has sex and nudity.
You might want to rent it before thinking of a purchase.

Bingo! ADV said that about NR in order to snag some fans away from NS since they're both movies about ninja and they both star "a" Jubei. Problem is that one is Jubei Kibagami (NS) and the other is Jubei Yagyu (or Yagyu Jubei Mitsuyoshi) (NR). The thing is, Yagyu was a real historical figure (He's the Jubei with the eyepatch that can also be found in Jubei-Chan, Lone Wolf and Cub, and Samurai Shodown). He's sort of the essence of the phrase "The man, the myth, the legend" as little is known about him between the 1630s and 1650s. People have been trying to bring meaning to those lost years buy filling them with stories, NR being one of them (originally written back in 1967 under the name "Ressurection from Hell").

How can it be a sequal if it doesn`t even show the same character?

Although, I have to say that the Jubei from Ninja Resurrection looks an aweful lot like the Jubei from Ninja Scroll. The opriginal marketing ploy came from the creators, not from ADV.

If anything it's the other way around, the Jubei from Ninja Scroll looks like the Jubei from Resurection. Jubei from NR's design is based on the classical representation of Jubei Yagyu with the pulled back hair and eye patch. Jubei Kibagami from NS is designed roughly off of Jubei Yagyu minus the eye patch. As I said earlier, NR is based on a story created back in 1967, if anything it's NS that's trying to rip that off. It was ADV that tried to put a connection between the two where there wasn't one (and hopefully they fired the guy in the marketing department that came up with that).
Even though NR sucks, I have to give it credit. It's based on a much older story with character designs based on popular representation. NS, on the other hand, just happens to have a similar story about fighting demons and whatnot with a guy conveniently named Jubei in it.
