Dodged a -couple- bullets, more like. Though it's equally lame that it sounds like they were only cancelled because someone leaked it.

I mean, it's probably for the best, but way to overreact, Nintendo.

I thought Nintendo said way back when this first happened that they were never actually working on a live action Zelda after that initial news report about it?

Nintendo and overreacting go together like bread and butter at this point.

Is the Illumination Mario movie still happening?

They didn't say that specifically, but did claim at the time that the leak was "based on incorrect information" or something along those lines.

Yes, as far as we know. These cancellations went down before that project got rolling.

I still remember them not doing more story cutscenes after the Brawl leaks.

Good times...

By that I mean, geez I still can’t believe that.
All for some dumb leaks.

Oh, well.

It's for the best. Game of Thrones-esque Legend of Zelda isn't something we need any more than edgy grimdark Archie, Winx Club, or Sabrina.

It said "a Game of Thrones for families". I assume they meant it more as a big fantasy series like Game of Thrones, but more family-friendly.

Why you have to go open up old wounds like that bro, I had just gotten over the fact that they made a live action winx club like that.

Except not really, it's that Sakurai wasn't happy that most of the cutscenes were uploaded and analyzed by people who haven't played the game and a Wii, or something like that.

If this is true then Nintendo overreacted, although I don't think Zelda would have worked as a live-action show, I think the best option would have been an animated show, either made in Japan or something like Castlevania (made in the West but looking like an anime), and preferably an adaptation of Ocarina of Time.
The Star Fox claymation project could have worked but I think a puppet series like Thunderbirds would have been better.
I'd love to see Nintendo making shows based on their games, a new Fire Emblem anime, a Xenoblade one, and perhaps a Donkey Kong cartoon with modern CGI. I just hope we get more information about the Illumination Mario film soon.

Hearing the live action gets cancelled actually makes me more relieved than disappointed lol. Otherwise I don't how they would portray link who is known to be stoic and silent. and so are dungeons tomb raider esque perhaps. Sorry i just find the tomb raider movies not as good the video game counterpart
