I've been doing reviews (mostly anime, but not just that) for so long that I naturally default to Critic Mode. This is, I think, a big part of why about a quarter of the series I follow in any given anime season are trash shows. (It's pretty common for me to watch as many shows in the bottom 10 of weekly rankings as in the top 10.) I know they're not good, so I can resist the temptation to over-analyze them.
But I also do enjoy analyzing things on qualitative scales (and, as I get older, feel that it keeps me mentally active), which is why I'll probably never give up writing reviews even though I'm not paid for it anymore. |

I really hate you've got to say this, same as video game streamers/youtubers, to head off any commenter hate. I really, really love my job doing software development, never have I had to qualify talking less-than-stellarly about it. A lot of people are very slow to get that a job always has parts you don't like, and you can't skip them Keep up the good work  And also, this is how I learn Polygon is gone

It's hard job to do but I'm glad y'all do it! I have tried other anime review sites and none of them hit like y'all, truly a unique place on the internet.
