Really happy to see Rebecca covering "Sayonara Lara"! Smile

Now I just need to remember to check column weekly, I always try to do so and forget at some point...

Hey, Jan made the list. I’ve been looking forward to that one because of everything I’ve heard about unhinged Jan gets.

Pretty reasonable list. Most shows I'm watching are on there, as are some I'm not but may want to see how they are going. Slightly surprised Red River made it.

A couple of things I'll watch aren't here, but they are fairly generic so probably wouldn't be hugely interesting for the format anyway; possible partial exception is Cat and Dragon but its so low stakes that again I'm not sure episodic reviews would be a huge boost.

Was pleasantly surprised as well to see Jan made the cut! Looking forward to seeing just how unhinged things go.

Otherwise, only 100 GF's and Kaiju Girl made the cut for shows I'm following. Would have liked for Skeleton Knight or Trapped in a Dating Sim to get weeklies, but I'll settle for an end of season review.

Kudos to my fellow readers who passed over the chance to subject a reviewer to a Studio GoHands shows. I wish I could say I was that mature.

Oh inept villainess made the cut despite the late start.

I wonder if having world is dancing and elusive samurai to the same person was an intentional choice. Why not have both smoking show to the same person too. Laughing

Surprised tomb raider made the cut honestly... then again I'm surprised solo leveling made it in the first place, so what do I know. Also a bit surprised thunder 3 made it too, not because of the quality (haven't had time to catch up on it yet, but because there's been very little noise around it despite its strange premise.

A surprise (and specifically Shojo Comic-flavored one), to be sure, but a welcome one.
Others that made the cut (for weekly review, be they explicitly marketed for a shojosei audience or have a vibe):
- Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia (serialized in Souffle, currently Mystery Bonita)
- I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day (Comic Yuri Hime)
- Though I Am an Inept Villainess (Narō)

Didn't make the cut (for weekly review):
- Hana-Kimi Season 2 (Hana to Yume)
- Please Excuse My Younger Brothers (Bessatsu Margaret)
- The Duke’s Son Claims He Won’t Love Me Yet Showers Me with Adoration (Comic Arc imprint, Comic Polaris
- The Forsaken Saintess and Her Foodie Road Trip in Another World (Narō)
- Victoria of Many Faces (Narō)
- My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren’t Wicked (Comic Pool in Pixiv Comic)
Light anime Saved by the Ice Cold Prince's Embrace (listed as a shōjo manga through Spira Comics's CMoa website)

Those that may fit, but do not in terms of 'strict' demographic markers include KAIJU GIRL CARAMELISE (Monthly Comic Alive), Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games (Monthly Comic Flapper), Draw This, Then Die! (Monthly Shōnen Sunday).
Substantial details for the aforementioned lifted from AF's seasonal shojosei preview focus, Summer 2026 edition (thank you for streamlining and making much more convenient, even with familiarity it is always so many names). At any rate, of the ~53 serializing standard length TV anime, a solid 8 minimum are shōjo/jōsei.

Anyway, a stupidly stacked season from a number of angles, seemingly. Also not following a lot of even critically acclaimed for the same reason. Intent on keeping up with Goodbye Lara. Hanaori-san, Exiled Heavy Knight, Clevatess Season 2, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance, Flaming Dodgeball Girl Danko, Iron Wok Jan!, KAIJU GIRL CARAMELISE, then we'll see from there. Still need to get to Dying Day and others though (like Lara herself). Somehow, I've ended up watching more than one of Rich Girl Caretaker, though like a number of others it's on thin ice for keeping attention.

With all do respect, I don’t know how you could’ve been surprised about Solo Leveling, it’s one of the most popular manhwa and already has a big fanbase before the anime even premiered, I would’ve been shocked if it didn’t make it.

Just noticed Nanoha didn't make the cut, I'm sad about it (and surprised to be honest).

I don't understand what people saw with Iron Jan, but the rest are more or less what I was expecting.

I’m SO delighted that Inept Villainess made the cut, and so happy to have Caitlin doing the reviews. That made my day! Plus, Rebecca is the perfect reviewer for Goodbye Lara. And my jaw is on the ground with the news that Elusive Samurai made it in and James will continue his excellent reviews.

Most of my other shows made it in, too. What a great season this is shaping up to be. Very Happy

Word. That said, I also voted for “Red River”, so I think that evens things out. Very happy to see “Inept Villainess” just made the cut! I was worried the late premiere would impact its standings. I am curious if “The Duke’s Son Claims He Won’t Love Me…” has some fun politicking involved or if it’s largely just fun fluff, but I totally understand why it got passed over in favor of better shows. And “Victoria” sadly seems better served in other mediums.
