Under normal circumstances, I would be excited to play this, but ever since Disgaea 6, NIS games' quality has been sliding pretty bad. It's absolutely an issue of lazy phoned-in gameplay and bare minimum features.
Disgaea 7's big expac has not hit PC and is still locked to newer Switch consoles in spite of other versions existing that have been waiting longer.
I'm personally interested in trying Mayhem since I like Musou games, but early reviews have been coming in saying that it's probably one of THE most barebones+shortest games NIS has ever made. Go look at the collector edition prices on it and tell me a 5 to 10 hour game should cost that much money.
I already own several copies of Dokapon Kingdom, and the Prinny Party (while a unique idea for a Disgaea game) just seems like them throwing ideas out to see what sticks and justify the use of their new 3D engine and assets. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it releases and has even half the charm and depth that Dokapon or Mario Party does (not that Mario hasn't been wobbling lately either) given current footage, and even then I'd only buy Prinny Party and Disgaea Mayhem after some pretty extreme & heavy discounting.
