I have never minded the 5 episode recap here. Given we are at the 250 episode+ mark when it occurs then I think its well placed and timed.

The time in which these recaps take place is about showing just how far the characters have all come. Its important as it also is about showing to robin that they are strong enough and this is emphasized by the recaps, again like i say, showing just how far each character has come and just how much stronger they are.

Given this is the first recap of significance since the show started i.e complete recap episodes, then thats fine but coupled with the reasoning behind why it happens when it does then I have no problems with it at all.

Sure buying sets essentially with content you already own is not a great selling point, so in that regard I understand. But I think the recaps are integral to the story at this point in the show and make the eventual payoff that much more powerful.

So yeah I enjoyed them but then I tend to even enjoy the filler arcs in One Piece so...

Actually these recap episodes aired because the series had just moved timeslots - Space Brothers, for instance, did the same recently, when it moved to Saturdays. It seems they feel the need to introduce the show to a new audience.

I'm surprised Funimation released the recaps as part of the regular collection - in Japan, the five episodes were sold separately as an extra disc also containing the Mugiwara Theaters.

The omakes on those recap eps were hilarious. Especially the dub of Obahan Time.

personally i skipped those recap eps. they were way to stupid. it was obivious that they were meant to ensure the series wont catch up to the manga , which is why we have filler eps in the first place and i would have gladly taken some filler eps over the recaps ( except those Boss Luffy samuari filler eps cause of all the filler eps, they were the absolute worst )

other than that it was the arc most people was looking forward to so i am kinda surpised it got average grades consideing the enies lobby arc is the most popular of the arc ( other than the alabasta arc ). though i was more surprised that they had steaphnie young as robin's mom olivia. i kinda predicted that they would have used the same VA that did Bellamiere ( Nami's adopted mom ) or probably Luci to take in the role as olivia. though the extra commentary is also a good take as well.

overall its a preety appitiser of a box set though the main course is next box set come out.

You should watch the omakes at least. Particularly Obahan Time bubbeleh. (You'll get it when you watch it). As for Ms. Young doing Olvia, that's what happened in Japan as well. Robin's va did her mom.

Ah I remember these flash back episodes, I had a bad feeling they'd be included and lo and behold! I gotta say this is part of the reason I just stopped bothering with the anime and just continued via manga because the pacing at this point forward becomes a huge issue. I do like the little specials at the end though its one of the small pleasures one can get from watching the anime at this point.

I did and its as i said. not a lot of people liked those fillers at all. definitely the worst fillers in the series. at least the millennium dragon arc with Apis was more entertaining as well as the Naverone arc. the only way anyone would like that arc is that they watched the entire over 100+ naruto filler arc.

also i did know that they used the same VA in the japaneese version, though it didn't mean it had to be the excact same thing for the dub version. dont get me wrong , its more than ok, it was my personal reference based on the personality of the VA from previous performances.

ANN needs to add a new category to it's reviews. maybe Popularity or review these sets as arcs since it's all connected and a big part of what made Water 7/Ennis Lobby great. Toriko is the same. it hasn't gotten credit for being alot better then what the grades are in the review too

Skip the recaps, watch the Strawhat Theatre shorts. Especially Chopperman and Obahan Time.

Worst Filler was Apis arc not only cause its annoying and long and "She could totally be one of us" *gag* but it integrates part of the canon so its not skippable.

Naverone/G8 arc was rather interesting and everyone got their moment to shine.

Stephanie absolutely NAILED the line. In one take mind you. That alone is worth the pricepoint for me.
