Trivia:

Kotetsu Jeegu was the basis for the Force Commander action figure from Mego's Micronauts toy line.

Unlike Toei Animation and Dynamic Planning's previous Super Robot titles, which aired on Fuji TV and were sponsored by Popy, Kotetsu Jeeg aired on NET (now TV Asahi) and was sponsored by rival toy company Takara. Furthermore, it premiered simultaneously with UFO Robo Grendizer, creating a TV rivalry between two titles by the same studios. During the 1975 Christmas season, Jeeg beat Grendizer in toy sales, as Popy experienced design problems that delayed the Grendizer toy release to 1976.
