In ep 3, Toshio's funny pose "Syeeeeee!" is from Iyami from "Osomatsu-kun"(#1508). 

Inuyasha and Kagome (from one of Rumiko Takahashi's many other shows, Inuyasha) can be seen in ep 13.

Achara’s name is Thai for “angel”. It is also a name of a pickle made from grated unripe papayas, a dish that is popular within the Philippines. This dish is often served as a side dish for fried or grilled foods such as pork barbecue.

In episode 1, Shippo from “Inuyasha” can be seen falling out of the closet when Yuko retrieves her son's elephant toy.

Pitto in episode 1, is a Humboldt penguin. The Humboldt penguin is a South American penguin which lives mainly in the Pingüino de Humboldt National Reserve located within the northern section of Chile and along the coast of Peru. Since the publication of “The Tragedy of P” one shot manga, the Peruvian government has declared the Humboldt penguin to be an endangered bird. Thus making it illegal to kill or possess a Humboldt penguin as a pet. Within Japan, the Tokyo Zoo hosts at least 135 Humboldt penguins. As of 2012 there are only 32,000 mature adult Humboldt penguins left alive on Earth.

In episode 3, Toshio's funny pose "Syeeeeee!" is based on Iyami's pose from the "Osomatsu-kun" manga and anime series.

In episode 3, Minoru‘s baseball jersey has the words “Yunkeye 55”(New York Yankees) on the front and “Matsui 55” on the back. This is referring to Hideki Matsui who had just started playing for the New York Yankees when this episode first aired. He was part of the team for the next six years until he switched to playing for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for one year.
