Trivia:

This series was heavily influenced by the spy comedy show "Get Smart" (1965) as well as the "crime-fighting gadget" shows "Dynomutt Dog Wonder" (1976) and "The Six Million Dollar Man" (1974).

In episode 1, Gadget erroneously believed that Scotch tape was originally made in Scotland. When in reality, Scotch Tape was first manufactured in Minnesota.

In episode 2, marks the earliest appearance of Metro City(the hometown of Gadget, Penny, & Brain).

In episode 65, marks the only time Inspector Gadget was seen with a mustache. With the episode being the original pilot episode, this was Gadget’s original look as he was inspired by the similar bumbling Inspector Clouseau from the Pink Panther movies. After completion of this episode, DIC received a letter from MGM stating that Gadget resembled Clouseau too greatly and demanded that his appearance be altered. So to complied with MGM’s demand, all further episodes of the series had Gadget's mustache removed. Reruns of this episode explained Inspector Gadget's mustache as a disguise he was wearing during that case.
