A young man with natural racing instincts, Speed Racer takes to the streets in the Mach 5, a specially modified race car designed and built by his father's race shop. His goal is to win the Casa Cristo, a cross-country race that took the life of his brother, Rex Racer. When he turns down a lucrative offer from Royalton industries and later finds out that major corporations are fixing races, Speed finds himself prey to Royalton's goons. To save his family's business and the sport of auto racing itself, Speed forms an unlikely alliance with his former rival, the mysterious driver known as Racer X.
