A website opened on Tuesday to announce a stage play adaptation of Yuji Shiozaki's Ikki Tousen fighting manga. Photo idol Shizuka Nakamura (live-action Q.E.D.) and actress Miyuu Sawai (live-action Sailor Moon's title character) will play Hakufu Sonsaku and Shimei Ryomō, respectively.
Daisuke Nishida (Sengoku Basara plays) is writing and directing the play, which will run for 13 performances from November 30 to December 9 at Tokyo's Ginza Hakuhinkan Theater. Tickets for the show will cost 6,300 yen (about US$81).
Geneon Entertainment once released the first Ikkitousen anime series in North America, and Funimation then picked up the license. Media Blasters has licensed both the second Ikkitousen anime series, Ikkitousen: Dragon Destiny, and the third series, Ikkitousen Great Guardians. Tokyopop held the license to Yuji Shiozaki's original manga in North America under the name Battle Vixens until the company closed its North American publishing branch.
The latest anime entry in the franchise, Ikki Tousen: Shūgaku Tōshi Keppu-roku, ran in theaters in Japan last November.
Update: Funimation now holds the license for Ikkitousen Great Guardians Thanks, Sakura Shinguji.
