California Business Owner Holds Poll for Maid Café

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Results to be presented to MaiDreamin' in Japan prior to U.S. branch launch

California small business Dearie is hosting a poll for user input on the upcoming launch of Japanese maid café MaiDreamin' in Los Angeles. Dearie is hosting the survey as part of the owner's college course. The owner states that the survey will be presented to NeoDelight International/MaiDreamin in Japan and will possibly contribute to the café's launch. The survey asks participants to watch a video about a maid café and answer questions about it, and to answer questions about eating-out habits.

The Japanese maid café chain MaiDreamin announced in December that it will open a branch in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles this year. An opening date is scheduled no earlier than summer. Branches are also being considered in New York City and Boston.

Previous attempts at a maid café in North America include Detroit's Chou Anime Café, which opened in June but closed its doors in September when it failed to achieve a steady stream of customers. Chou Anime Café was briefly the only operating maid café in the United States, after California's Royal/T Maid Café closed its doors in August. Similar past attempts included Far Out Toys in San Jose, California and the iMaid Café in Scarborough, Ontario. The iMaid Café opened in 2006 and closed in 2007 due to unpaid back rent.

MaiDreamin has 11 locations in Japan and a Thai branch in Bangkok that opened in February.
