Level 5's Yōkai Watch Game's TV Commercial Streamed

Game developer Level 5 (Inazuma Eleven, Danbōru Senki) began streaming a TV commercial on Wednesday for its upcoming monster game for Nintendo 3DS, Yōkai Watch (Supernatural Creature Watch). The "yōkai world" commercial focuses on the different yōkai featured in the game and the touchpad battle system. The game will ship in Japan on July 11.
The game's story begins one hot summer day when a boy named Keita discovers an old capsule toy vending machine in the forest. Keita receives a mysterious watch and meets a ghost butler named Whisper. Whisper tells Keita that the watch allows him to see supernatural creatures — both good and evil — that he could not see before in everyday life. With Whisper and his other companion Jibanya, Keita explores his town for other ghosts to battle.
In the game, players may choose a male or female protagonist to befriend supernatural creatures and battle others. The game will also include a camera feature that "reveals" supernatural creatures in photos.
Level 5 has announced plans for anime and manga adaptations of the franchise as well. The anime will premiere in January.
