Love Live's Collaborates with Kanda Myoujin Shrine This May
posted on by Chris Nishijima
With the New Year having just arrived, many people are taking care of their first shrine visit of the year this week. But while it might be tradition that is driving some locals to visit the Kanda Myoujin Shrine, located near Akihabara, it's definitely a love for idols that has quite a few others pouring in. It's all thanks in part to Love Live!'s Tojo Nozomi, the official idol mascot idol for the shrine.
As fans of the series know, Tojo Nozomi is not only a member of the idol group μ's, but helps out at the Kanda Myoujin Shrine. Since Kanda Myoujin is in fact a real shrine, this has caused an interesting relationship between the shrine and the anime production team. While the shrine helps promote the show, it also gets a number of fans who wish to make pilgrimages there for the sake of their favorite anime idols. Kanda Myoujin has even been able to sell official Love Live! charms and wooden ema prayer boards. The goods, which were originally put on sale at the shrine last November, were also available for purchase during the New Year season.
Although the shrine is reporting that they have already sold out of their Love Live! New Year's items, it seems that another collaboration is already in the works. Tokyo MX Television and Kanda Myoujin both announced this week that they would be putting out a special collaborative poster in May to celebrate one of the shrine's most eventful times of the year, the Kanda Festival. The poster features all of μ's girls in traditional wear and ready for the festival.
Love Live! began rebroadcasting on various television networks throughout Japan on January 4. The Kanda Myoujin Shrine posted about it via their Twitter account, asking fans to look out for the shrine and its beloved idol representative, Tojo Nozomi.
