Samus Leaps into Action in Thrilling Fan-Made Anime Short

posted on by Eric Stimson

Although the Metroid series has had a manga adaptation (unavailable overseas), Nintendo's fearsome space bounty hunter has never starred in an anime series of her own. A recently released anime short, simply titled "Metroid: Short Animation," has made fans hungry for more.

The anime is the work of Rabbit MACHINE, an independent Japanese animator who also produced a longer short this year promoting the History Department at Kobe Women's University. Rabbit MACHINE's signature fluid motion is also on display in Onigiri Musume ("Ogre-Slicing Girl," 2014).

"Metroid: The Sky Calls" brought Samus to life as a live-action short. Metroid Prime: Federation Force, the latest game in the series, will be released on August 19 in North America
