Stamp Set Celebrates 1970s Giant Robot Anime

Japan Post is offering a new limited-edition stamp set inspired by 1970s robot anime. The set features art from 10 robot anime from the genre's golden age.

The anime with robots that appear on the stamps are:

Animator Kazuhiro Ochi (key animation for New Gigantor, Mobile Suit Gundam) provided the illustrations for the set. The framed stamp set costs 7,000 yen (about US$62) and includes 10 special stamps, a stamp holder, and a character fine board.

Tthe pre-order period opened on December 1. The set is available to order at post offices in Japan until February 2, and Japan Post's online shop is accepting orders until February 5. The set will begin shipping on March 12.

Japan Post regularly offers anime-inspired stamps, including framed sets. The postal service released special Sailor Moon, Macross, Ranma ½, Super Mario, and Lupin III stamp sets earlier this year.
