Devilman and Hellboy Team Up to Promote Hellboy Reboot Film

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Gō Nagai's Dynamic Planning created a crossover image starring two fiendish heroes, Devilman and Hellboy, to promote the theatrical release of the Hellboy film remake in Japan. The art shows the two heroes staring down their foes Sirene and Nimue the Blood Queen.

Nagai watched the Hellboy film and described it as "dark" and appreciated the character's depiction as both gloomy and comedic. "[He] runs through the strange world of witches and monsters. A thrilling dark fantasy movie is born!!”

Hellboy creator Mike Mignola also drew a cross-over image to celebrate the film opening in Japan. Both pieces of art will be on display at the Gō Nagai Memorial Hall in Wajima City in Ishikawa Prefecture. Staff are also planning to create novelty goods and other merchandise as part of the campaign.

Neil Marshall's Hellboy film opened in the U.S. on April 12. Mignola's graphic novels previously inspired two live-action films directed and written by Guillermo del Toro in 2004 and 2008.
