Blue Exorcist Creator Kazue Katō Draws Moana 2 Fan Art

Blue Exorcist creator Kazue Katō posted an illustration of Moana 2 characters Moana, Maui, Heihei, Pua, and Kuto on her X (formerly Twitter) account on May 13. Included in the background of the illustration appears to be characters Loto, Moni, and Kele.

As of press time Kato has received seven replies, over 1,000 reposts, and just under 8,000 likes from fans. The handful of replies all appreciate the manga creator's illustration with user @p9cker_girl saying, “I hope Disney, Disney Animation, Disney Japan, Disney Studios shares your wonderful Moana art sensei.” However, a quote repost by user @Chelscocklicker observed the characters skin tone is lighter than official art. Saying, “Is it me or are they a lil too white?”

Kato launched Blue Exorcist in Jump SQ. in 2009. The series has gone on several hiatuses in the 2020s predominantly due to health issues of the creator. The manga series has seen several anime adaptations in 2011, 2017, 2024, and 2025.

Moana 2 premiered on November 24 and stars Auli'i Carvalho as the titular character. Dwayne Jonhson reprised his role as Maui. Following its theatrical release Moana 2 was released on the Disney+ streaming service on March 12 and on 4K Ultra HD, Blue-ray, and DVD on March 18.
