Anime's allure goes academic

posted on
Finally some good press about Anime

The Seattle Times is running an article entitled "Anime's allure goes academic" regarding an Academic course at the Bellevue Community College entitled "Anime Revealed".

Other Universities and Colleges have also begun dedicating courses, or portions of courses, to Anime and Manga, however this is the first course dedicated to the Subject in the State of Washington.

The author of the article has a few good things to say about Anime herself, not just quotes from other people.

"And although the art form may be most widely known for some of its more graphic and violent examples, it can be quite sophisticated, much more detailed in plot and artwork than the ordinary Saturday-morning TV cartoon. "

She also points out that "While parents sometimes decry anime for its violence and gory graphics, anime fans argue that those more intense animations are geared toward adults, not kids."
