ImaginAsian Delays TMS Classics

posted on by Christopher Macdonald
First volumes delayed due to pending approval on CSS encryption

ImaginAsian has informed ANN that it will be delaying the first volumes of Nobody's Boy Remi, Cat's Eye and The Super Dimension Century Orguss have been delayed from their originally scheduled July 10 release to August 10. As August 10 was also the originally scheduled release date for the second volumes, IA will release volumes 1 and volumes 2 of each series on August 10.

Justin Sevakis explains, "Due to matters beyond our control, the TMS Anime Classics DVDs have been delayed. While the discs themselves are done and more or less ready to be manufactured, the DVDCCA (the governing body in charge of CSS encryption) did not set a start date for the use of CSS on recordable DVD media. We were expecting them to do that on their 6/20 meeting, but for whatever reasons, it didn't happen. As these discs would be among the world's first to use this new format, such issues are unavoidable.

"As we can't legally ship these discs until the date is set, we have no choice but to delay street date until (tentatively) August 10, which is also the date volume 2 is set to ship. So, unless there is another delay, you'll get both releases on August 10. (We're taking the extra time to make sure everything about the discs is as good as it can be.) The production schedule should not be affected.

"We really apologize for the delay, and promise it'll be worth it! These are some great discs, and we can't wait for you to see them."
